Business Ethics for Business People

Croatian townA Christian entrepreneur in Croatia, Goran Nedoklan, recently launched a campaign to build the first big medical tourism center in Vodice, to offer medical services and train future doctors and staff. This initiative received a lot of media attention, and the government and foreign investors are pleased the idea is taking shape. Nedoklan wants the local CBMC to conduct the training on business ethics for all the businesses in the center, a great way to positively impact the business community.

Small Business "Gets a Boost" in Nigeria

Cashcow Microfinance Bank Ltd. (picture by Patience Ogbo)Small scale businesses in Lagos have a new resource for funds as the new microfinance bank CashCow opens next week.

CashCow, located in Lagos, Nigeria, will provide loans and business advice to small businesspeople. Wale Adeduro, bank chairman, said, "We are in the business of microfinance banking to deliver great value to God and the people." The majority of their credit will be granted to women "because we believe that if a woman is doing well in her business, there will be a multiplier effects on her family and the society at large.”

Business Development in the Land of Blue Sky

Young seamstress in MongoliaThe World Vision Mongolia Business Development Service (BDS) began in 2002, establishing solidarity groups to help low income micro-entrepreneurs who did not have access to financial services, and encouraging social and economic cooperation to improve communities through serving each other. BDS provides help in the areas of training/consulting, marketing, information, technology, and loans.


Currently BDS has established 736 Solidarity groups and has reached 5682 members jointly through 22 Area Development Programs and 12 Community Based Organizations.

Redeemer Church's Entrepreneurship Initiative

Heather Anderson, 2008 winner of EI business plan competitionThe Entrepreneurship Initiative is designed to equip, connect, and mobilize entrepreneurs within the congregation of Redeemer Church to create new ventures that bring about gospel-centered transformation for the common good. The Entrepreneurship Initiative is building a community to support entrepreneurship through workshops, conferences, mentoring relationships, and an annual business plan competition.

Churches in Cambodia Provide Skills and Training

Map of CambodiaFARMS International is launching a self-sufficiency program in Cambodia, to provide microfinancing and lessons in technical skills through local churches. Christians are excited about the program and will be the ones to get the program going. FARMS' goal is to work effectively and make a real impact; they believe as others see the progress Christians are making toward self-sufficiency, they will come to the Church for help.
